Xpansiv I-REC Registry Records One Billionth Redemption
Milestone underscores rapid growth of international renewable energy certificate markets and highlights the scale of Xpansiv’s global registry network
NEW YORK, LONDON, SYDNEY — July 29, 2026 — Xpansiv, the leading infrastructure provider for global energy transition markets, today announced that the Xpansiv I-REC Registry has recorded its one billionth International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC(E)) redemption, a milestone that underscores the growing scale, global reach, and maturity of the renewable energy certificate market worldwide.
The I-REC market has grown ten-fold since 2020, with over 80,000 organizations in more than 140 countries using I-RECs as part of their renewable energy procurement and sustainability programs.
The milestone reflects the growing scale and importance of Xpansiv’s broader registry infrastructure. Xpansiv’s proprietary registries support more than 300 GW of generating capacity, representing approximately 4% of total global power capacity and 7% of global renewable energy capacity. Approximately 28% of global renewable energy certificates (RECs) are managed on the company’s proprietary and sponsored registry network.

The billionth redemption milestone coincides with the completion of the transition of the Evident brand to Xpansiv following Xpansiv’s acquisition of the company in 2025. The transition brings the I-REC, I-TRACK(G), C-Capsule, and Fly-i registries under the Xpansiv brand while maintaining existing governance frameworks and registry operations.
The Xpansiv I-REC Registry will continue to operate under the governance of the I-TRACK Foundation and in alignment with the International Attribute Tracking Standard, maintaining the independent oversight and market integrity framework that supports trusted EAC issuance and redemption.
