Xpansiv Selected to Operate New Zealand’s NZ ETS Carbon Auctions
WELLINGTON, NEW YORK, LONDON, SYDNEY — May 13, 2026 — Xpansiv, the leading infrastructure provider for the global energy transition markets, announced that New Zealand’s Ministry for the Environment has selected the company to operate the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) auctions beginning with the September auction. The auctions will be conducted on Xpansiv CBL, which provides transaction infrastructure services for global electricity, carbon, and fuels markets.
Supporting the NZ ETS with resilient, transparent market infrastructure
ETS auctions are the primary mechanism through which the Government sells NZUs into the market, supporting price discovery through competitive bidding.
Auctions include safeguards such as minimum price and a cost containment reserve, designed to help reduce sudden price shocks.

The first Xpansiv-operated auction is scheduled for September 2026. The contract term runs through December 31, 2030, with an option for the Ministry to extend to the end of 2035.
